MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING HELD ON 17 MAY 2005

The Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting 2005 having been circulated, it was proposed by Cllr Colyer, seconded by Cllr Mrs Forrest and agreed they be signed as a true record.

ACCOUNTS
|
|
|
The Financial Statement of the Parish Council's Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2005 were received.

CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
|
|
|
The Chairman's report had been circulated to all parishioners and was taken as read. No questions were asked.

|
YOUTH COMMITTEE REPORT
Cllr Skudder's report as Chairman of the Youth Committee had been circulated to all parishioners and was taken as read. Questions were asked about the provision of a playground for younger children. The Parish Council was hoping to speak to the developer of the site adjacent to the school at an early stage to see if a suitable small area of land could be reserved for a playpark. Cllr Skudder said he was hoping to establish a drop-in centre for teenagers on the Brimp. A resident said the hardstanding outside the Village Hall was in a bad state and dangerous for the pre-school children to play on. Cllr Mrs Forrest replied that funds had to be found to re-lay this area.

MEDWAY COUNCIL REPORT |
|
|
The report from the Medway Peninsula Ward councillors had been circulated to all parishioners and was taken as read.
Matters raised by the public included the cemetery; rubbish in Binney Road; re-cycling bags; the state of the Gravesham section of the Wainscott by-pass.

REPORTS FROM LOCAL ORGANISATIONS
Reports from local organisations had been circulated in the Parish Council's Annual Report to all parishioners and were taken as read.

VILLAGERS' LIFE MAGAZINE
|
|
|
Cllr Marsh said that there had been problems with the printer and a new printer was now printing the magazine. The Editor, Mrs Jill Todd, had resigned. A caretaker editor had been found to produce the next two issues while a permanent editor was sought. Cllr Marsh proposed a vote of thanks to Mrs Todd.

OTHER BUSINESS
Concern was expressed about the lack of police presence in the village. PCSO John Hucks outlined the resources available. A comment was made that residents felt intimidated by groups of young people.
The matter of wide loads entering and leaving the village without escort was raised.
|
The Chairman then introduced Bob Marshall-Andrews MP, who gave an entertaining talk, referring to the Cliffe airport campaign and the imminent change in police structure. He was due to meet the new Chief Superintendent.
The Chairman thanked Mr Marshall-Andrews, councillors, other guests and parishioners for attending and closed the meeting at 9.26 pm.
